Privacy policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026

In short: the Valleys Rising app collects nothing about you and never goes online. This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. If you email us, we use your message only to reply.

This policy covers the website at valleysrising.com (and valleysrising.co.uk, which redirects to it) and the Valleys Rising game for Android. It explains what personal data is involved, why, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who we are

Valleys Rising is the developer of the game and runs this website. We're the controller of the small amount of personal data described below. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@valleysrising.com.

The website

No cookies, analytics or trackers

The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, social media widgets or fingerprinting. It doesn't store anything in your browser. Its fonts, pictures and video are served from this website itself, so visiting it makes no requests to other companies such as Google Fonts.

Server logs

The website is hosted by IONOS, which acts as our processor. Like almost every web host, IONOS keeps standard server logs of the requests it receives: your IP address, the page or file asked for, the date and time, and the browser and referring page your browser reports. IONOS uses them to deliver the site and to keep it secure and working, and deletes them on its usual schedule; its own privacy policy explains how. We don't use them to identify you or combine them with anything else. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.

If you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever your message says. We use them only to read and reply to your message. We don't add you to a mailing list, and we don't share your message with anyone else, except our email provider, which stores it for us. We keep emails only as long as we need them for the conversation, and delete them at the latest two years after our last exchange. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering messages people send us.

Links to Google Play

The "Download on Google Play" buttons take you to Google Play. Once you're there, Google's own privacy policy applies, not this one.

The Valleys Rising app

What the app collects: nothing

Valleys Rising is a single-player game that runs entirely on your device. It has no accounts, no adverts, no analytics, no crash reporting and no online features. The Android app doesn't even ask for permission to use the internet, so it can't send anything anywhere.

What stays on your device

Google Play

When you get the game from Google Play, Google handles the download (and any payment) under its own terms and privacy policy. Google may show us anonymous, combined statistics, such as the number of installs, and anonymous crash reports from people who have chosen to share diagnostics with Google. These don't tell us who you are.

Children

The game collects no personal information from anyone, including children, and the website doesn't track anyone.

Where data is kept

Our web host (IONOS) and our email provider may store data outside the UK, for example in the EU. Where they do, they use the safeguards that UK data protection law recognises, such as the UK's international data transfer agreement or addendum.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

In practice the only personal data we might hold is an email you've sent us. To use any of these rights, email us at the address above. We'll reply within one month. It's free.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first and we'll try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or call 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If anything changes (for example, if a future version of the game ever adds an optional online feature), we'll update this page before that version is released, change the date at the top, and describe the change here.
