Changelog
What's new in each update of Valleys Rising, newest first.
Beta 0.1.4 · 5 October 2026
New
- Landmarks for towns: tap a town to buy a building that draws people, from Cardiff Castle, Ninian Park and Portmeirion to chapels, picture houses and leisure centres. More residents arrive over two years and more passengers travel, and the building appears on the map.
Beta 0.1.3 · 4 October 2026
New
- Subsidies: offers to link two towns by bus or rail. Accept one and finish it in time to win the reward, and that line earns three times as much for two years. Miss the deadline and you pay a tenth of the reward. Find them under More, Subsidies.
- Easy really is easier now: £250,000 to start, fares and freight pay half as much again, and running costs and upkeep are 30% lower. Hard is the other way round.
- The train builder and the train panel warn when a train can't earn anything on its line (no carriages, or the wrong wagons).
- Stations on open ground: tap anywhere with the Station tool for a new station with its own straight track, 1 to 3 platforms, 80 to 160 m long, turned the way you want.
- Signals can be turned round: tap one with the Signal tool. Double track's automatic signals can keep trains left or right.
Improved
- The build bar names every tool, and all of them fit on a phone, the bulldozer included.
- Cloning a train asks before it spends your money.
Beta 0.1.2 · 4 October 2026
New
- Tap a train on the map to see how full it is, edit its make-up (done at the depot) or clone it onto the same line.
- "+£" rises over a train, bus or lorry when it's paid at a stop.
- Tap an industry to see what it produces, the nearest works and towns that take it, and where its inputs come from.
- Loans up to £250,000, with bigger borrow and repay buttons.
Improved
- Fares and freight pay more, especially on short trips.
- Panels can be dragged down out of the way, and lists scroll from anywhere.
- New trains start with just the locomotive: you add the wagons.
- A train that can't leave its depot says why.
Fixed
- Renaming a line no longer closes the keyboard after every letter.
- A line's name can't be left empty.
Beta 0.1.1 · 4 October 2026
New
- Level crossings, with barriers that come down for trains.
- Buses and lorries can go to the depot, be renewed and be replaced automatically.
- Stations with a passing loop can have their platforms lengthened.
Fixed
- The signal blocks layer no longer shows through hills.
- Parked trains are left out of their line's figures.
- The game's own city track only charges upkeep for what you add to it.
- Many smaller fixes to goals, the finance panel, trade-in prices and long names.
Beta 0.1.0 · 3 October 2026
- The first beta: build railways and roads across an accurate map of Wales from 1910, haul coal, slate and steel, carry passengers, and watch the valleys grow through the eras.
